A new Group 1 Queen

A new Group 1 Queen

The final of the much-anticipated GROUP 1 Queen of the Pacific at Tabcorp Park Melton had a distinctly Empire-flavour, with WESTERN TERROR mare, PISTOL ABBEY, fighting on for the main prize from other Empire-sire mares.

The daughter of an Art Major mare, PISTOL ABBEY (Stewart-Moran) sat back in the field before joining the wide run home into the side and surging past her rivals to take the $100,000 race by 8.2m. Favourite TELL ME TALES (TELL ALL) worked very hard and held on for fourth, being overtaken by the FOUR STARZZZ SHARK mare, MAKES EVERY SCENTS.

Bred by Matthew Sandblom and owned by Lauriston Bloodstock, PISTOL ABBEY has now secured over $168,000 in earnings from 11 career wins after placings in previous Group events such as the APG 2YO Fillies Series and the Make Mine Cullen.

PISTOL ABBEY is from 100% producing broodmare, Art Princess (F: Bessie B NZ) who herself collected over $179,000 in prizemoney. Art Princess is also a sister to Our Kinda Art, the dam of recent PET ROCK 3YO winner, Cut From Rock.
