HUNTSVILLE by Empire flagship stallion SOMEBEACHSOMEWHERE held off a first-over rally by DOWNBYTHESEASIDE(also by SOMEBEACHSOMEWHERE ) through the lane to win the $738,550 Crawford Farms Meadowlands Pace for 3-year-old colt pacers in 1:47.4.

60-1 longshot Classic Pro (Trevor Henry) led at the :26.4 opening quarter, but he would be overtaken by both Blood Line (Mark MacDonald) and HUNTSVILLE (Tim Tetrick) before the :53.3 half went on the board.

HUNTSVILLE continued to flaunt his speed around the far turn and to the three-quarters, which he put on the board in 1:20.3, but DOWNBYTHESEASIDE (Brian Sears) had begun a first-over move out of the fifth position and was gaining ground on the rim.

In the stretch HUNTSVILLE looked to seal the deal, but DOWNBYTHESEASIDE continued to loom boldly and gain ground. He just couldn't get to the leader, though, with Huntsville hanging on to win by about a neck. Classic Pro came back on in the lane to get third money.

“My horse was tired late,” Tetrick said. “He kept pushing all the way to the wire – he’s a fighter.”

HUNTSVILLE competes for trainer Ray Schnittker, who co-owns and also bred him with the late Charles Iannazzo. Ted Gewertz and Steven Arnold also share ownership of HUNTSVILLE , who scored his 12th career victory and pushed his earnings to $1,420,538.
