Empire sires shine at Brisbane APG

Sires from the Empire Stallions’ roster dominated the Australian Pacing Gold Brisbane Sale on Sunday (January 27).

CAPTAINTREACHEROUS topped the sale with a colt out of the $700,000 winning mare Forever Gold fetching $55,000. Bred by M. T. Cole and B. Watson, the colt was bought by champion trainer Tim Butt.

Interestingly, Butt’s wife, Andrea, is the part-owner of Millies Creek, a NZ race-winning mare who is carrying a positive test to CAPTAINTREACHEROUS.

A pair of HESTON BLUE CHIP colts, one out of Our Sweet Victree and the other from the Perfect Art mare Exclusif, realised $40,000 and $32,500 respectively at the sale. Both were bred and beautifully presented by Lindsay and Mary Vagg.

The Our Sweet Victree colt was knocked down to Sydney trainer Robbie Morris, who has a number of HESTON BLUE CHIP two-year-olds in work and is delighted with their preparation.

The HESTON colt from Exclusif was bought by Scott Whitton of Tumby Park Pty Ltd.

The first crop of the USA 2YO Pacing Colt of the Year ARTSPEAK was well received with a filly out of the Art Major mare Victree Bonita selling for $26,000 for Tumby Park.
