Heston Blue Chip filly wins Gold Tiara heat

Talented HESTON BLUE CHIP two-year-old filly EYE CAN RUN, who won the Group 2 NSW Pink Bonnet earlier in the month, backed up to capture the opening heat of the Gold Tiara at Bathurst on Friday night (March 22).


Starting from the No 5 gate, the HESTON BLUE CHIP filly was sent forward as the mobile arms unfolded and secured the box-seat trail behind the leader. Angled down onto the passing lane, EYE CAN RUN sprinted brilliantly to gain the judge’s nod. The mile rate for the 1730 metres was 1:59.1 with the last 800 in 57.6.

The winner of two of her three starts to date, EYE CAN RUN was bred by A. S. Smith and R. O. Woods and is owned by A. S. Smith, R. O. Woods and M. A. Morris. She is out of a Bettor’s Delight mare.

3YO WELL SAID colt PETE SAID SO (from In The Pocket mare, Kamwood Smarty) claimed a heat of the Honouree Stakes in 1:59.3 on the same card, while the following night SOMEBEACHSOMEWHERE 2YO colt SMOOTH BAHT (from Armbro Operative mare, Shoutaloud, remained unbeaten following succes in a heat of the Bathurst Gold Crown in 1:59.1.
