FOUR STARZZZ SHARK’s champion son LENNYTHESHARK notched his second win in the Group 2 $50,000 Smoken Up Sprint when he outpointed a top field in a brilliant 1:51.9 at Melton on Friday night (October 6).

Having his first outing for 10 weeks, ‘LENNY’ was fired off the mobile arm and crossed his rivals inside the first 100 metres.

He was never again headed.

Cutting the first three sectionals in 28.8, 29.4 and 28.2, the bay entire burned his opposition with a 26.5 closing quarter to score by 8.5 metres with plenty in reserve.

It was his 35th win from 68 starts and boosted his stake tally to $2,686,985.

Out of an Albert Albert mare, LENNYTHESHARK was bred by Kevin Newbound and is owned by Kevin and Martin Riseley.

The win completed a big night for ‘SHARK”, who was also represented by the all-the-way Gloucester Park winner BETHANY AITCH and the 1:56.8 Port Pirie victor MARZZZ BARZZZ BAZZ.

BETHANY AITCH, who rated 1:58.2 over 2130 metres, has now won eight races and more than $120,000 in stakes. From a Live Or Die mare, the mare was bred by David Young and is owned by Nathan Turvey, David Young, T. Sermon and P. Ensel.

MARZZZ BARZZZ BAZZ, who hoisted a fresh lifetime mark, boasts 10 wins and $32,559 in prizemoney. From a Waverly Niatross mare, the gelding was bred by Geoff Easom and is owned by S. M. and C. J. Fitzgerald and Mick Darling.
