Poster Boy rounds them up in Chariots

SOMEBEACHSOMEWHERE’S outstanding son POSTER BOY became his sires fastest ‘down under’ bred performer when he outgunned a top class line up in the Group 1 $200,000 Chariots of Fire at Menangle on Saturday night (February 16) in a mind-boggling 1:49.1.

It was the former 3YO of the Year’s fifth win at Group 1 level and advanced his stake tally to $671,390, the result of 18 wins and six placings from 25 starts.

Starting from the No 7 gate, POSTER BOY settled down in third last position in the running line in the furious 57.9 seconds opening 800.

Gaining a three-wide trail at the 500, the bay entire started to peg back his rivals and, switched four deep on straightening, sprouted wings in the closing stages to win by 1.9 metres.

He clocked the final 800 in 55.4.

POSTER BOY is out of the American-bred mare Aston Villa, a daughter of Artsplace.

Congratulations to breeder-owners Bill and Anne Anderson, of Lauriston Bloodstock, trainer Emma Stewart and driver Chris Alford.
