Somebeach pair snare Pennsylvania Sire Stakes Finals

RAINBOW ROOM and PEDRO HANOVER, a pair of SOMEBEACHSOMEWHERE two-year-olds, captured the two $252,000 Championship Finals of the Pennsylvania Sire Stakes at Pocono Downs on Monday (September 4).

RAINBOW ROOM, who led from the outset, was briefly headed in the home stretch but fought back valiantly to score by 1-1/2 lengths in 1:52.4.

She is now the winner of five of her six starts, including three legs and the final of the PA Sire Stakes, for $211,199 in stakes RAINBOW ROOM is out the champion racemare RAINBOW BLUE (by Artiscape).

PEDRO HANOVER, who started from the No 7 gate, surged to the front at the three-eighths, stole a winning break on the home turn and then held on to win by a length, equalling his lifetime mark of 1:51. Out of a mare by Pro Bono Best, PEDRO HANOVER has racked up earnings of $229,404.

SOMEBEACHSOMEWHERE stock also dominated the $50,000 2YO PASS Consolations, with filly ALEXA'S POWER and colt CLOSING STATEMENT saluting in their respective fields.

SOMEBEACH ($2-million) holds a lead of $1.1-million in this year’s 2YO Sires premiership.
