Sunrose Village tops $50,000 mark

Tough VILLAGE JOLT gelding SUNROSE VILLAGE sent his stake earnings over the $50,000 plateau with a gritty win at Gloucester Park on Friday night (September 14).

After a smart beginning from the No 4 gate, the gelding was obliged to race without cover from the get-go.

Levelling up with the leaders on the home turn, SUNROSE VILLAGE gained the upper hand shortly after and then was forced to dig deep to hold off the swoopers.

The mile rate for the 2130 metres was 1:59.7.

The Victorian-bred gelding has now won seven races.

Out of a Village Jasper mare, SUNROSER VILLAGE was bred by Robert Dacey and is owned and trained by Tonia Stampalia.

Earlier in the week the black VILLAGE JOLT gelding WHITE STAR VILLAGE took full advantage of a pocket trip to win on debut at Globe Derby Park.

The gelding rated 1:58.7 over 1800 metres with the final 800 in 58.4.

From a mare by Village Jasper, WHITE STAR VILLAGE was bred by Len Petricevich and is raced by Shane Loone.
