A big weekend for STAY HUNGRY with a classy Tasmanian treble of juvenile winners – new two-year-old winner Zoe Ella (bred by Balmain Lodge) claimed the 2YO Fillies Sweepstakes Final, colt Hungry Hippo (Brooke Hammond) put 27m on rivals on debut and Coniston (A Tormey & R Nicholson) made it three consecutive wins.
Some big milestones too for CAPTAINTREACHEROUS kids – Captains Knock (John Rutter) clocked 1:51.9 to claim the Listed Classic Kevin Newman FFA to top $600,000 in earnings, and Sahara Breeze (Bruce Paul & Peter Watkinson) topped $305,000 with 1:51.2 at Melton for a third consecutive victory, and at Wagga, Treacherous Belle (B Hewitt, G Crocker & S Jones) went back-to-back in 1:54.1.
In North America, the Meadowlands also produced good results for CAPTAIN – two $130,000 Sam McKeen Fan Duel went to his sons Captain Luke (1:47.3) and Ken Hanover (1:49), and three-year-old colt Captain Optimistic claimed the 2025 $227,000 Cane Pace in 1:48.1!
