STAY HUNGRY, back on the roster for both Australian and New Zealand breeders in 2025, continued to prove his value after Hobart’s premier meeting on Saturday, laying claim to three juvenile winners on the program.
Leading the way was ZOE ELLA (pic, bred by Balmain Lodge) who put in those long strides to take out the 2025 $30,000 2YO Fillies Sweepstakes Final in 1:57.4, her maiden win.
In a race-to-race double, STAY HUNGRY colt HUNGRY HIPPO (bred by Brooke Hammond) made his debut race a memorable one, stamping his dominance with a 27m victory.
Finally, the more experienced three-year-old gelding CONISTON (bred by A Tormey & T Nicholson) made it three consecutive wins in taking out the Morey’s Tours Pace to bring up $30,000 in earnings.
STAY HUNGRY’s North American crops have already seen him with progeny earnings there of over $18.9m – that’s an average per starter of more than $63,000 – and locally he has recorded 33 winners from sixty starters for over $977,000 in earnings including star fillies Hunger Strike (1:53.3, $134,000) and Ark Sea (1:54.9, $110,000).
