Speedy mare Cool And Classy (Captaintreacherous) won a place in next week’s Group 1 Rising Sun with an all the way harness racing win in the Queensland Sun that was restricted to locally trained three and four year olds at Albion Park on Saturday evening.

On the back of her stylish win in the Redcliffe Princess of the Bay Cool And Classy was backed into a confident favourite ahead of Fernco Nel. However surprisingly Cool And Classy who was expected to lead couldn’t muster enough speed as Greased Lightning flew out of the mobile to go to the front.
Despite looking as if she get the one out and one back trail, Cool And Classy was sent around the field by Trista Dixon to eventually take up the running. Fernco Nel who had a trail made his run at the bell to move alongside Cool And Classy.
The in form Always B Cool was in a one out position but he proceeded to make a sustained run out three wide to make up good ground. His driver Shane Graham switched to the inside on the final bend as Cool And Classy slipped clear of the field. It looked as if Always B Cool would finish best but Cool And Classy kept finding something and she prevailed to win by metres with the winners stable mate Ruby Rules running on well for third.
Cool And Classy ran 1.51.5 for the 2138 metres including 26.9 seconds for the third quarter. Raced by Kevin Seymour, Cool And Classy has had an impressive career winning among other features the QBred Breeders Final as a two year old as well the Sunshine Stars Two year old final and she repeated the Sunshine Stars success as a three year old. But her best win was the New South Wales Oaks Final where she beat a star studded field.
Cool And Classy has amassed just over $527,000 in stake money with 16 wins and 7 placings from just 28 starts. In next week’s Rising Sun she will have the advantage of an inside run as mares and fillies will have preferential draw over the colts and geldings. This will probably be her biggest test as she faces Captains Mistress and Marketplace but if she gets to the front early then she has to be seriously considered.
