STAY HUNGRY with another top set of results – filly Ark Sea (bred by M & C Ryman) topped $169,000 in earnings with a 1:53.2 win at Wagga, Hungry Hippo (Brooke Hammond) hit $88,000 with his Raider Stakes heat win in Launceston, and at Globe Derby Park, three-year-old colt Lochinvar Leader (Brooklyn Lodge) went back-to-back.
The big win came at Albion Park though with CAPTAINTREACHEROUS mare Captains Mistress (Taffy Ltd) running a track record of 1:50.3 to claim the GROUP 1 Rising Sun, her fourth consecutive win.
A slew of juveniles ran their best too – two-year-old filly Gordons Ghost (C Dolling, E Kay, H Enright & K Riordon) back-to-back at Newcastle, super speedy colt Major Austin (Mark Carey) in 1:54.4 in a track treble with Grumpyshannon (Jonathan McAlister), building a picket fence at Geelong was filly Shiffran (S Robertson, A Goadsby & M Tanner), and at Melton Le Cardinal (C & J O’Connor) went 1:52.3. In New Zealand it was fillies to the fore, with Treacherous Me (Taffy Ltd) up at Invercargill and a new winner at Cambridge in Olympic Ko (Cahillio Pty Ltd). In the older ranks, Gidup Captain (J Edmunds, S Jory & M Stanton) took another win at Redcliffe to knock through $50,000 in stakes.
In North America, his sons were setting the Meadowlands track alight – Ervin Hanover set a track record of 1:46.3 to take out the $168,000 Dave Brower Memorial, while Captain Optimistic also went 1:46.3 to claim the $230,000 Graduate Series Final. At the Meadows, he had three two-year-old fillies victorious – My Taylors Swift in a $43,000 division of The Sand Tart, and Treacherous Taps and Loyal To The End in Stallion Series divisions.
TALL DARK STRANGER filly Miss Chevious also took a $43,000 Sand Tart division, while at home he was represented by Set Play, SOMEBEACHSOMEWHERE by the outstanding Bay of Biscay, and BETTING LINE by Butter Cup, Muzzamemate and Lambro Mach.
