Two solid performances by STAY HUNGRY kids this weekend – Blissful Lover (bred by G Murray & L Pitts) in 1:53.3 at Menangle to take the 2YO Stakes and remain unbeaten, while at Globe Derby Park Lochinvar Leader (Brookly Lodge) made it four consecutive wins with his salute to hit $40,000 in stakes.
CAPTAINTREACHEROUS stock just keep doing what they do – another stellar mare, Lux Aeterna (Brooklyn Lodge & the la Spina family) took out the Listed Stylish Memphis Stakes at Menangle in 1:51.3 to boost her bank past $737,000, while at Albion Park, French Fries (Solid Earth) hit $185,000 with a 1:53 effort. The high-producing Durham Park delivered two winners this week in Captain Tom (1:54.1 at Wagga for a Waratah Heat and $108,000 in earnings) and mare Keayang Payton (1:54.1 at Melton).
In New Zealand, more CAPTAIN juveniles were to the fore with new two-year-old winner Fundraiser (B & C Whitelock) saluting at Addington, and at Alexandra Park, another victory for War Chief (Taffy Ltd).
The Albatross series is underway at The Meadows and both boys had representatives in the $45,000 divisions – Mascarpone (STAY HUNGRY, 1:51.4) and Starstruck Dreamer (CAPTAIN, 1:50.4) – while in the Mary Lib Miller series, two-year-old HUNGRY filly Gold Impact clocked 1:53 to take victory.
A treble this week for TALL DARK STRANGER (Towering Fortune, Dark And Handsome & Sabalenka), doubles for BETTING LINE (Lady In Line & Keayang Domino) and SOMEBEACHSOMEWHERE (Some Chevron & Beach Music), and a winner for WELL SAID in Tellmboutit.
