As the last lot left the ring on the opening day of the Standardbred Horse Sales Company’s 2022 yearling sale at Harrisburg, it was our stunning value sire, STAY HUNGRY (SOMEBEACHSOMEWHERE) who stood out among the pacing sires, having the sales topper and a super high average.
Hanover Shoe Farms’ filly, Time Out Hanover, topped the pacing lots of the 161 first day yearlings with Alagna Racing purchasing the STAY HUNGRY daughter for $325,000. She was one of five lots for STAY HUNGRY on the opening day which averaged an incredible $161,000 – more even than CAPTAINTREACHEROUS – for a total of $805,000 which included Armada Hanover ($200,000), Escobar Hanover ($130,000), Last Supper ($80,000) and Stay Lucky ($70,000).
Time Out Hanover is from WELL SAID mare, Time Saver Hanover, a sister to an incredible 15 winners, eight who banked over $100,000 including Took Hanover (The Panderosa, $641,000). She is the third foal from the mare, the other two already winners.
Not that CAPTAIN was in the shade at all, with his 27 lots fetching over $3.51m for an average of $130,000. His top seller was the colt Alamo Hanover (also consigned by Hanover Show Farms), knocked down again to Alagna Racing, for $300,000. Shebebakin Hanover, a half-sister to Dan Patch 2YO Pacing Colt of the Year, Perfect Sting, was CAPTAIN‘s next highest, selling for $250,000.
