Another new winner for STAY HUNGRY in filly Stayzbetter (bred by B & T Heenan) who took victory at Hobart this weekend. The win gives STAY HUNGRY his 15th two-year-old winner of 43 winners overall, from 70 starters of his first two crops of 118 live foals. In North America, his progeny average earnings sit at over $69,000 and with local earnings of more than $1.35m, he’s well on track to match it here!
CAPTAINTREACHEROUS was well represented as always, but it was extra exciting to see Captains Knock (John Rutter) clock 1:48.2 at Menangle for back-to-back wins to take the Listed Italian Cup, moving his earnings to $660,000. Filly Cool And Classy (Solid Earth) claimed a heat of the Sunshine Stars Classic series by 8m, taking her bank to $429,000 while at Newcastle Faye Irene (Mathew Day) and Captain Groove (Louise Toulmin) made a handy double, the three-year-old in 1:53.4 to take his third consecutive victory. In North America, at Harrah’s Philadelphia, Prince Hal Hanover continued his winning ways with a division of the Liberty Bell in 1:51.4.
TALL DARK STRANGER also picked up a new winner when two-year-old filly Cala Serena (Brooklyn Lodge & the la Spina family) also saluted on the Newcastle card.
Of our past roster, BETTING LINE (Tremendous Sensation, Bettingonya, Fashion Icon & Keayang Santiago) and SOMEBEACHSOMEWHERE (Bronx, Ima Terminator, Orama & Beach Diamond) shared honours, with winners also for ROCKNROLL HANOVER (Full Swing Denario) and WESTERN TERROR (Cordero & Western Bill).
