Big results yet again for our boys across the globe…
STAY HUNGRY colt Lochinvar Leader (Brooklyn Lodge) posted an incredible 1:55.8 at Globe Derby Park to secure the 2026 SA Derby on the same card that Kittycat Cutie (Wyndown Stud) bumped her bank up to over $40,000. Win #2 for Ravenous (Caparoro family) came with a 27m margin, Stay Dreamy (J & K Norrish) went back-to-back at Albion Park, and at Marburg, it was yet another new winner for the sire when filly Hungry For More (Ben Crosby) saluted.
CAPTAINTREACHEROUS had a slew of black type winners – the Group 3 Hannon Memorial at Oamaru was claimed by Franco Sinatra (Spreydon Lodge) and Captains Knock (John Rutter) edged ever closer to the magic million mark with his 1:51. 2 Listed Classic McMillan FFA win at Menangle. Rising star two-year-old Wildfire Stride (E & M Stride) went back to back with another win at Newcastle on the same card as Peligroso (K & A Charles) making a winning return to tip his earnings over $140,000. Three-year-olds were in the money – Benjamin (Gibson family) at Canberra, Wit Wickee (Nathan Varcoe) at Cowra, and Co Captain (Maurlen Equine) in 1:52.5 at Wagga. Also topping up their banks were Mediator (Breckon Farms) at Alexandra Park – $45,000 – Keayang Payton (Durham Park) at Geelong – to $44,000 – and Gidup Captain (J Edmunds, S Jory & M Stanton) by 5m at Marburg – $55,000.
In north America, CAPTAIN’s crew were flying too – 1:48 for Ken Hanover to take the $260,000 Ewart Memorial at Scioto Downs, Celtic Wave claimed the $52,000 Reynolds Memorial at Tioga Downs in 1:52.3, and his three-year-olds were well represented at The Red Mile in divisions of the Kentucky Golden Rod Series by Need You Now (1:51.2) and Shes A Rich Girl (1:51.4).
BETTING LINE took another treble – Wave Rebellion, Dourado & Sapphire Gambler – while WELL SAID was represented by Andersite.
