Five in a row now for STAY HUNGRY three-year-old Coniston (bred by A Tormey & T Nicholson) after taking victory yet again at Launceston this weekend.
CAPTAINTREACHEROUS had an exciting few days with filly Cyclone Jenni (Fusinato Bloodstock) taking out the Youthful Stakes by 8.4m on debut at Melton, and fellow two-year-old Special Occasion (Tardina Stud) making it two wins from three starts at Alexandra Park. At the other end of his career is champion Catch A Wave (Benstud and P & Z O’Shea), back in fine form to clock 1:52 in the IRT FFA at Melton to bring up $2.25m in earnings. Boosting their bank was also Keayang Moroccan (M Lee & J Craven) bringing up $70,000 at Mildura and Frankie Ferocious (Bill Crosby) going back-to-back fro $370,000 at Albion Park.
In north America, BULLDOG HANOVER baby Daya went 1:51.1 at Woodbine Mohawk Park to claim a $100,000 Eternal Camnation division while CAPTAIN star Ervin Hanover took an Elimination of the Canadian Pacing Derby in 1:47.4 and Captain Albano at Batavia Downs posted 1:50.1 to take the $100,000 Kane Memorial.
In the futurities, TALL DARK STRANGER was represented by Delray Beach in a 1:51.1 Kentucky Commonwealth Series leg at The Red Mile, and Southwind Spencer in a PA Stallion Series division in 1:52.4. CAPTAIN filly On Heir posted 1:52.4 at Meadowlands to collect a Kindergarten Series leg.
BETTING LINE was the star of our past roster this weekend with six winners – Betting Jewel, Operative Line, Cold Hard Cash, Wings On The Line, Alwaysmissingyou and Blazin Chimes – while SOMEBEACHSOMEWHERE took the double of Kiavino Stride & Beach Diamond, and there were winners for ROCKNROLL HANOVER (Racketeers Boy) and WESTERN TERROR (Keayang Tara).
