A big list this week in addition to the amazing sales results – let’s crack through them!
CAPTAINTREACHEROUS’ list was extensive with with Captains Mistress (Taffy Ltd) in her fourth consecutive win to take the GROUP 1 Queen of the Pacific in 1:54.3 by 24m in a Melton double with Chase A Dream (Studholme Bloodstock) claiming the Pure Steel in his debut Australian start (1:54.5) to hit $689,000. Captains Knock (John Rutter) made the Listed Classic 2026 Albury Murray Cup his own, at Albion Park, Reely Nauty (C & C Beadman) went 1:52.8 and Captains Pick (Solid Earth) hit $197,000, while at Newcastle it was Captain Dorian (Helen Head) in 1:55.5 to reach $146,000. At Cambridge, Barbarossa (L Standing, S Taylor & W Wilson) took his bank past $154,000!
STAY HUNGRY produced a new three-year-old winner in Keayang Hungry (bred by Marg Lee) at Mildura, as did TALL DARK STRANGER at Terang with Keayang Simba (Marg Lee) taking the cash and also Blayney where Stranger Effect (Brooklyn Lodge) claimed a 16.5m maiden victory.
The boys have been travelling super at this season’s yearling sales – the STAY HUNGRY colt from Splendour brought $90,000 at the NZB sales with his Splendid Bet filly bringing $55,000 while at the Nutrien Tasmania sale, the colt from Weona Badgirl was the second highest lot ($40,000).
BULLDOG HANOVER’s debut lots have been exciting – his colts from Allaboutjoy and Havtime each brought $75,000 in NZ and from Hannah Sue, $45,000.
CAPTAIN of course was top of the tree, his Adore Me colt the top pacing lot at $210,000 and nine lots overall commanding $100,000 or more including the Delight In Me and Imaginary Bet colts who each left the ring at $180,000.
Of our past list, BETTING LINE again dominated with Ibreakthe Line, Quickshift Girl, Yankee Gambler, Whos The Dad, Hatties Jewel, Line Up Jacquie, Pencil Me In, Eclipse Line, Norbit and Not As Promised. WESTERN TERROR had Yesnomaybeso, Shireen, Favouritehighlight, Caledonian Terror & Western Bill while SOMEBEACHSOMEWHERE was represented by Beach Delight, Swanbourne Spunk, Spook Crocker & Surf Ace and WELL SAID by Interpretation, He Said She Said, Done Well & Triedtotellya.
