A brand new winner for STAY HUNGRY this week with two-year-old Stinson (bred by B & M Bradley) completing a Canberra double for Empire sires after CAPTAINTREACHEROUS mare Sapphiresndiamonds (Bee Pears) took a 14.5m victory earlier on the card. CAPTAIN mares were in the money elsewhere – at Eugowra A Lil Bit Of Love (Peter Crennan) and filly Astral Stride (E & M Stride), and at Addington, Lakelsa (B & A Sinclair) who took her earnings past $170,000. He had a new winner with colt Apex Stride (E & M Stride) saluting at Penrith, and at Globe Derby Park, a treble – winning on debut, Don Capitano (Benstud), by 5.6m Captains Dream (Benstud with P & Z O’Shea) and Treacherous One (Glenn Wilmot) who brought up $33,000.
CAPTAIN kids were also on show in North America – Ervin Hanover claimed the $250,000 Pacing Derby at Dayton in 1:47.2 from fellow CAPTAIN stallion Captain Albano, Captain Optimistic (1:48) and Prince Hal Hanover (1:47.2) made waves in $70,000 3YO C&G divisions of the Bluegrass series at The Red Mile, where Signal Caller put in 1:48.2 for a 2YO C&G division. TALL DARK STRANGER filly Nash claimed hers in 1:50.1.
Of our past roster, SOMEBEACHSOMEWHERE led the way with seven winners – Neds Beach, Kiavino Stride, Hillview Bondi, Wills Way, Braebeach, Wheres The Gold and You Fly With Me. BETTING LINE wasn’t far behind with six winners (Dee Jays Big Boy, Not As Promised, Dynamite Danni, Daylight, Tremendous Sensation & Rebline) while there were doubles for WESTERN TERROR (Jay Bee & War Western) and ROCKNROLL HANOVER (Kissmelvis & Troubadour).
