takes season began Friday at Woodbine Mohawk Park with eliminations for Ontario sired fillies in the SBOA Stakes.
A pair of eliminations were needed in the pacing filly and trotting filliy categories, with each elimination going for $25,000.
Ron Burke trained Shes A Bulldog moved to the lead in the second quarter and powered to a 1:51.3 score with driver Bob McClure. Daya finished second, best a length and a quarter, while Pownal Bay Bobbi, Th Check Me Out and No Better Air rounded out the top-five.
Owned by Brad Grant, Shes A Bulldog was making her season debut after winning once in nine starts at two. The daughter of Bulldog Hanover’s lone victory was in the Grade 1 Three Diamonds. She now has earnings over $540,000.
